Our Story
Ringwood Enterprises was built from a shared dream, a strong work ethic and a love for rural life.
James Smith is a qualified electrician, while Angelica Morse holds a degree in Business Administration and brings her experience in business management. Together, they make up Ringwood.
James grew up in the Riverina, surrounded by farming and rural life, and comes from a strong farming family background. From an early age, he dreamed of one day owning a piece of land of his own. He knew achieving that dream would take hard work, determination, and a willingness to make sacrifices.
James spent eight years working away from home in industrial construction, saving every dollar he could towards that goal. With the support of his parents, he eventually purchased his first block of land outside Yackandandah, Victoria.
Not long after, James and Angelica met and began building a life together. After welcoming their first child, their dream of owning more land and creating a future for their family continued to grow.
Together, they made the decision to sell their property and take the next step in their journey, purchasing a property in the New England Tablelands. After spending several years in the area and becoming part of the local community, they felt the time was right to take another leap and start a business of their own.
With James' electrical expertise and Angelica's business background, Ringwood Electrical Services was born.
Today, Ringwood represents more than just an electrical business. It represents the journey that brought them here — the long hours, hard work and determination to build something of their own. It also honours their family's agricultural roots and their shared connection to the land.
From a dream of owning a small piece of country to building a life, a family and a business in the New England region, Ringwood Enterprises is built on hard work, family and a commitment to creating something that will continue to grow into the future.

Why"Ringwood"?
The History Behind the Name Ringwood
The name Ringwood holds a special connection to the Lander family and their long history on the land in Australia.
Before starting our business, James asked his grandfather on his maternal side, John Lander, if we could use the name Ringwood as a tribute to the Lander family and their agricultural roots. With his blessing, the name became a way of honouring the generations before us and the journey that brought the family to Australia.
The Lander family story is one of journey, resilience, and connection to the land — from lacemakers in Nottingham, England, to Calais, France, and eventually to Australia, where the family established themselves at Darlington Point, on the property known as Ringwood.
Their story begins in Nottingham, where our ancestors worked as lacemakers. They later emigrated to Calais, France, where they continued their trade in machine lace.
In 1848, following the revolution in France, the Lander family made the difficult decision to leave Europe and begin a new life in Australia. They travelled aboard the square-rigged sailing ship Harpley, arriving at Port Adelaide on 2 September 1848. They were among almost 700 lacemakers and their families who travelled to Australia during this period aboard the Harpley, Fairlie and Agincourt.
They arrived with very little, leaving behind the trade and life they had known and beginning again in a country vastly different from their homeland. Over the generations that followed, the family established a strong connection with rural Australia and a life on the land.
Eventually, that journey led the family to Darlington Point and the property Ringwood. The property became part of the family’s agricultural story and represents the continuation of a journey that began generations earlier on the other side of the world.
From lacemakers in England, to France, to pioneers in Australia, and ultimately to the land at Ringwood — the name represents the journey of our family and the generations of hard work, resilience, and connection to the land that came before us.
For us, Ringwood is more than just a business name. It is a tribute to where we have come from, the family who built a life here, and the agricultural heritage that continues to shape who we are today.
